Cancellation

Cancel Your Application

We are a private third-party service providing assistance with UK ETA applications. We are not affiliated with the UK Government or GOV.UK.

If you no longer need your UK ETA or wish to cancel a submitted application, this page provides comprehensive information about the cancellation process, including when cancellation is possible, how to submit a cancellation request, refund implications, and what happens after your application is cancelled.

We understand that travel plans can change unexpectedly, and you may find yourself needing to cancel an application you have already submitted. The information below will help you understand your options and make an informed decision about proceeding with cancellation.

When Can You Cancel?

Cancellation availability depends entirely on the current processing status of your application. The timing of your cancellation request is the most important factor in determining whether it can be accommodated:

  • Before processing begins: If your application has been submitted but has not yet entered the active processing queue, cancellation is most likely to be possible. This represents the best window for cancellation.
  • During early processing: If your application is in the early stages of review, cancellation may still be possible, but this depends on how far the process has progressed. Contact us as soon as possible if you decide to cancel at this stage.
  • During advanced processing: Once your application has progressed significantly through the review process, cancellation becomes increasingly difficult. The UK authorities may have already allocated resources to your application.
  • After a decision has been made: If your application has already been approved or refused, cancellation of the application is generally not possible. An approved ETA can simply not be used if you no longer plan to travel.

How to Request Cancellation

If you have decided to cancel your application, follow these steps to submit a cancellation request:

  1. Log in to your account using the credentials you created during the application process
  2. Navigate to your application dashboard and locate the application you wish to cancel
  3. Check whether a cancellation option is available for your application's current status
  4. If cancellation is available, follow the on-screen prompts to submit your cancellation request
  5. Provide a reason for cancellation (this helps us improve our service and is kept confidential)
  6. Confirm your cancellation request
  7. If cancellation is not available through your account (due to the processing stage), contact our support team directly

Refund Implications

Please be aware that cancelling an application does not automatically entitle you to a refund of any fees paid. The refund eligibility depends on several factors, and it is important to understand the distinction between the different fee components:

  • Government fee: The official UK Government ETA application fee is subject to the government's own refund policies. We do not have authority over refunds for this component.
  • Service fee: Our service fee may be partially or fully refundable depending on the stage of processing and the amount of service already delivered. Refer to our Refund Policy for detailed terms and conditions.

We strongly recommend reviewing our complete Refund Policy before submitting a cancellation request so you understand the financial implications. This helps ensure there are no surprises regarding refund eligibility.

Common Reasons for Cancellation

Applicants request cancellations for various reasons. Understanding common scenarios may help you determine whether cancellation is the right course of action for your situation:

  • Travel plans cancelled: If your trip to the UK has been cancelled entirely and you no longer need the ETA, cancellation may be appropriate.
  • Duplicate application: If you accidentally submitted more than one application, the duplicate should be cancelled to avoid confusion. Contact our support team to identify which application to cancel.
  • Incorrect information: If you entered significant incorrect information and prefer to start fresh rather than modify the existing application, cancellation followed by a new application may be the best approach.
  • Change in immigration status: If your immigration situation has changed (e.g., you have obtained a UK visa or other permission), the ETA may no longer be necessary.
  • Change of travel destination: If you have decided to travel to a different country instead of the UK, the ETA is no longer needed.

Alternatives to Cancellation

Before deciding to cancel, consider whether one of the following alternatives might better suit your situation:

  • Modification: If your travel plans have changed but you still intend to visit the UK, modifying your application (rather than cancelling it) may be a better option. Visit our Edit Application page for details.
  • Keep the ETA: If your ETA has already been approved and your travel plans are postponed rather than cancelled, you may be able to use the ETA for future travel within its validity period.
  • Wait for the decision: If your application is almost through processing, it may be more practical to wait for the outcome rather than attempting to cancel at a late stage.

What Happens After Cancellation

If your cancellation request is processed successfully:

  • You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging the cancellation
  • Your application will no longer be processed (if it was still in the processing queue)
  • Any applicable refunds will be processed according to our Refund Policy
  • If you later decide to travel to the UK, you will need to submit a new ETA application from scratch
  • The cancellation will not negatively affect any future applications you may submit

Important Reminders

Please keep the following points in mind regarding the cancellation process:

  • Cancellation requests are processed during business hours and may take some time to be reviewed
  • A submitted cancellation request cannot be reversed once it has been processed
  • If you cancel and then change your mind, you will need to submit an entirely new application
  • Keep your cancellation confirmation email for your records
